PU Consulting AB’s partner, ICMA SAN GIORGIO SpA – “ONE-STEP” UP-CYCLING system
Film recycler, Rotating compounding extruder, Post-consumer plastic waste, Productive solution for film waste, Minimal energy costs
ICMA is posting a remarkable technical advance in film recycling processing by its new “ONE-STEP” UP-CYCLING system. This is a specifically conceived line where only one ICMA high torque extruder, selected among its extended co-rotating families, can perform a wide range of processing tasks from just recycling to re-compounding of different industrial or post-consumer plastic waste. This solution is particularly advantageous for film waste that requires to be processed at the highest quality standards and output yields. This new line design combine all the benefits of a newly developed feeding unit with the co-rotating compounding extruder, the perfect machine to secure a high degree of flexibility, incorporation of fillers/modifiers, process performance. The line is engineered to have a sole extruder instead of other systems, proposed by other system manufactures, requiring more extruders/or in-line “big cooker” in combination. In particular, this line is equipped with a special patented feeding unit that is able to dose continuously the selected ICMA co-rotating extruder, even with “light” film flakes of a dimension up to 40mm that, if coming from post-consumer, is preferably washed.
To validate the line concept design, ICMA has run several test campaigns in its new INNOVATION HUB, using film flakes kindly provided by one of its customer, a leading processing film recycler. Outcome of such trials supported the advantages of the new line with some 40% production yield increase if compared to standard granulation system with limited available torque power and traditional feeding units. In summary, ICMA’s new “ONE-STEP” UP-CYCLING system secure a simpler and more productive solution for film waste processing with embedded flexibility for current and future processing tasks at expected minimal energy costs.
